The poverty gap between women to men is inevitable. According to UNICEF's research results, males have about 20% higher literacy rate (the percentage of people aged 15 years and over who can read and write a simple statement about everday life in their own language) than females do. This impoverish women because uneducation gives lower chances of getting a job. Women also spend the majority of their time providing unpaid caregiving to elderly or children. A research from CAP (Center for American Progress) concludes that 70% of unpaid caregivers to older adults in home are women. Caregiving at home reduces the time that could be spent into jobs for women. Unintended and mistimed pregnancy puts women into poverty as well. The Committee on Unintended Pregnancy states that 60 percent of all pregnecncies are unintended/mistimed. Unintened and mistimed pregnancy can result in the termination of education and keep women from getting and sustaining an employment. Some possible ways to solve this issue could be giving women the contraceptive services they need in order to plan their families and providing them the pay they deserve and equal work conditions as men.
